Yonex Golf at the beginning: In 1946, Minoru Yoneyama founded Yoneyama Company, Ltd., a producer of wooden floats for fishing nets. His wood crafting business thrived until modern advancements - namely plastic floats - forced the company out of the float business. At this time, frustrated by being pushed aside by advanced technology, Yoneyama vowed never again to be left behind technologically. Thus, he began a commitment that eventually led to innovations in the world of golf, tennis, and badminton.

Following the successful use of lightweight materials to build racquets, Yonex Golf began to explore similar applications in Yonex Golf clubs. For example, graphite applications, in both shafts and club heads, lightens the overall club weight, thereby increasing club head speed, resulting in more distance. In 1982, Yonex Golf decided to introduce the world's first all-graphite head driver, the Carbonex II. Yonex Golf followed it by the first graphite headed iron, aptly named the Carboniron.

Yonex Golf was established in the United States as a subsidiary of Yonex Company, Ltd., and become fully operational in July, 1983. It is headquartered in Torrance, California.

Yonex Golf strives to keep its customers and the industry at-large appraised of the latest information within Yonex, and its impact on the marketplace. Jumped to April 2004, Yonex Golf expands the Cyberstar PowerBrid product line with the introduction of the Cyberstar PowerBrid Fairway Wood. Available in #3, #5, & #7 woods (plus a #9 wood in Ladies'), the Yonex Golf Cyberstar PowerBrid leverages the high-performance combination of a "full" graphite/composite crown and stainless steel body and clubface.
