PING i Iron Set
Using 431 stainless steel for the first time in a PING iron, engineers relied on the material's high strength-to-weight ratio and softer feel to create a head design that delivers workability and trajectory control with the right amount of forgiveness. Lengths and lofts are optimized to increase distance with proper gapping, resulting in a clean, players-style iron with a high MOI that offers wide appeal.
The i is custom-engineered with 431 stainless steel for its high strength-to-weight ratio and softer feel. Weight savings from the 431 steel and the deeper CTP position allow for expanded perimeter weighting in a head design that delivers workability and trajectory control with forgiveness. Larger head sizes and low/back center of gravity positions in the long irons offer forgiveness and distance where you need them most. The smaller short irons and wedges provide precision and control. Lengths and lofts are optimized to increase distance with proper gapping. The sole glides through the turf with ease, ensuring the solid contact required to play with control and consistency. An optimized, versatile bounce profile delivers exceptional performance in all conditions. Two PING shaft choices and four popular after-market stock options allow you to match a shaft to fit your ball flight and feel preference. Available in 3-UW.
Weight savings (3-4 grams) from the 431 stainless steel and the deeper CTP (Custom Tuning Port) position allow for expanded perimeter weighting. A tungsten toe weight in the 3 thru 7 irons increases forgiveness.
An elastomer CTP weight tucks into the tuning port to create a clean cavity design. The port is positioned lower on the face to align with the impact area for a more solid sound and feel.
Progressive Set Design
Larger head sizes and low/back CG positions in the long irons offer forgiveness for attacking greens from any distance. The smaller short irons and wedges provide precision and control. Workability comes from a head and hosel geometry that ensures trajectory control for precise shot-making.
With two PING shaft choices (CFS Distance and CFS Graphite) and four popular after-market stock options, matching a shaft to fit your ball flight and feel preferences is easy.

Shaft weights are based on the trimmed length of a 7-iron, and may not match the specs listed on shaft manufacturer's websites. PING offers a variety of shaft flexes in steel and graphite to meet your needs and preferences. Selecting the proper shaft flex for your swing will help you get the most distance and accuracy from every shot. Generally, players with faster swing speeds require stiffer shafts to keep the ball trajectory lower, while players with slower swing speeds will require more-flexible shafts to produce a higher ball trajectory.
The choice of steel or graphite shafts is usually based on preferences for weight and/or feel. Players seeking a lighter overall weight and/or a softer feel in their irons may prefer graphite shafts, while players who prefer a standard-weight club with a firmer feel may prefer steel shafts.
We recommend that you get fit for the shaft that allows you to play your best golf. Whether that's a softer, lighter shaft with a higher launch or a heavier, stiffer shaft with a lower trajectory, a PING Certified Club Fitter can help you find the shaft that brings consistency to your game.
