Wilson Staff Model R Golf Balls
Like Staff Model, Staff Model R is a Tour-caliber, 4-piece urethane golf ball that also delivers unmatched precision, speed and consistency. It’s also the first golf ball to feature an unpainted urethane cover that delivers a lower flight trajectory, and ”grabs” the wedge surface for enhanced greenside spin. This is the ball for players who demand the utmost in confidence and consistency. This is performance perfected.
- Unpainted Urethane Cover: The urethane cover has been left completely unpainted, creating a perfectly even surface for true balance and straighter flight.
- V-COR™ Advanced Performance: A unique core composition magnifies energy to generate maximum velocity off the clubface for greater distance performance.
- 4-Layer Spin Control: More layers. Higher spin. Better control. Unmatched distance and shot-shaping off the tee. Tour-level workability on the fairways. Predictable stability on approach shots and exceptional control around the green.

UNEVEN PAINT CAN NEGATIVELY AFFECT BALL PERFORMANCE
As seen above, unevenly applied paint is visible under black light. This poorly applied paint creates heavy spots that may negatively impact ball performance, including flight trajectory and distance.
Staff Model and Staff Model R pin proximity vs the competition
Testing conducted in Humboldt TN on 8/12/20 using a Golf Labs Robot and C300Forged 5I set up to at 93mph at 12.2 deg launch, 4800 rpm with Urethane Calibration Set-Up balls and outdoor conditions of 65F and 0-2mph wind. Balls were oriented on the tee with heavy painted side left and then heavy painted side right. The Unpainted balls were hit with a random orientation.
EVENLY APPLIED PAINT IMPROVES PERFORMANCE AND ENHANCES ACCURACY
The chart above illustrates how a poorly painted urethane ball can be negatively affected during flight, causing up to 10 yards of dispersion. This means your precisely struck ball may not perform precisely. To address these negative effects and improve performance, we implemented a finely controlled paint application process for consistent performance and supreme shot-making confidence.
TESTING PROVED IT
During robotic testing and play tests with our Advisory Staff, unpainted Staff Model prototypes were evaluated next to our painted Staff Model balls. These ‘raw’ versions of the ball performed so well, delivered such exceptional precision and overall performance that our advisory staff demanded that we develop an unpainted version for production, and Staff Model R was born.
PURE SPEED & SPIN
Lower trajectory and reduced dispersion of Staff Model R makes it our longest ball off a driver, while the unpainted urethane cover offers additional spin on wedge shots.
WHAT'S THE PRICE TO PAY FOR FLAWLESS PERFORMANCE
BADGES OF HONOR
Our bold decision to feature an unpainted urethane cover does not come without compromise. It may stain more quickly than a painted cover, but this has zero impact on performance. Would you exchange a grass stain for more than half a stroke a round of accuracy? Yeah, we would too.
V-COR FOR EFFORTLESS DISTANCE
A unique core composition magnifies energy to generate maximum velocity off the club face for greater distance performance.
3SIX2 SEAMLESS DIMPLE PATTERN
Our seamless 362-dimple pattern smooths airflow around the ball, providing lower flight trajectory and maximum distance performance.
FOUR LAYERS. HIGHER SPIN. MORE CONTROL.
Staff Model’s 4-layer design delivers unmatched shot-shaping off the tee, Tour-level workability on the fairways, predictable stability on approach shots and exceptional control around the green. When you play Staff Model, you’re in control.
